Since his knockout victory over New Zealander Jordan Tai in early April, Toussaint has managed the frustrations of a succession of cancelled fights, including one opponent who simply missed his flight.

"Since the Tai fight there has probably been four or five that have been pencilled in that just never came through so I'm just happy to be getting back in again," he said.

"I was supposed to fight up in Newcastle about a month or two ago, I went up and weighed in and everything, and my opponent just never made it on the plane and never came through."

The complexity of preparing for a fight requires strenuous training and timing peak fitness levels.

"A lot of things have to go right behind the scenes for a fight to come along, it's not like the footy that you've just got a scheduled roster and you play whoever they chuck in front of you for the week, it's a bit more complicated than that."

Toussaint's veteran Thai opponent, Natthakan Thonglat, has won 32 fights and lost 21 but has lost all 11 bouts against Australian fighters.

"I've been training hard, been consistent in the gym and am ready to go," Toussaint said. "I'm just ready for whoever they put in front of me.

"Most of the hard work is done now and I've finally got an opponent locked in so I'm ready to go."

At 24, Toussaint's career is at a point of make or break, and with eight wins from eight fights his gamble to train full time may just pay off.

"Back in the day I was training twice a day and working around 48 hours a week, and it would really take it out of me, now I'm getting the right recovery in between and my boxing has improved tenfold," he said.

"Things are definitely looking good for me, and hopefully the end of this year and next year will be pretty big if everything goes to plan."
