Dean missed out on selection for the Strikers' first two games of the competition, but comes into the squad for the New Year's Eve fixture at Adelaide Oval in place of Hamish Kingston.
Competition at the top of the batting order is fierce, with wicket-keeper Tim Ludeman and the hard-hitting Craig Simmons filling those spots so far.
"It's unfortunate personally to miss out so far this season, but I'll keep working hard and I'll be ready to go if required," Dean said.
"The main thing is that the side keeps putting the runs on the board and taking wickets and winning games.
"New Year's Eve is always a massive game here, so it would be great to be involved, but the important thing is that the team is winning."
Dean has shown he can score quickly and get the team off to a flying start, scoring at a strike-rate of 184.37 from his four games last season.
The 30-year-old carried that dashing Twenty20 form into his club cricket with Weston Creek with a century and a half-century in consecutive games in the Konica Minolta Regional Cup in November.
Dean scored 103 against ANU before reeling off 88 against Ginninderra in the afternoon's game.
The Strikers are chasing their third straight win of the season after victories against the Melbourne Stars and the Perth Scorchers.
