The 20-year-old displayed all of her versatility in collecting a silver medal in the women's points race at the Oceania Championships in Adelaide on Saturday night.
Rice finished second on 24 points behind New Zealand's Lauren Ellis on 33 points, with fellow ACT rider Kimberley Wells just out of the podium places in fourth.
It capped off a busy week for Rice, who won a bronze in the team's pursuit with Wells and Canberra teammate Alex Nicholls, along with competing in the scratch race, individual pursuit and the omnium.
The winner of the under-19 road race national championship in 2012, Rice made the adjustment to the track as she tries to combine both disciplines.
"I don't come from a big track background, so coming to this race was all about experience and getting more time on the boards," Rice said.
"Probably the last three years I haven't done much track, just doing road, but now we've got a new ACTAS coach, Ben Cook, and he's encouraged us to get back on the track.
"He's not taking away the road, but it's nice to complement it and do a bit of different training.
"A lot of people pulled out of the points race, but Ben said, 'I want you guys to do it, it's good to get some race experience and containing building on your skills'.
"Even though we were pretty tired after a big week of racing, it was good to get out there and get a result."
Rice will miss this week's final event of the National Road Series due to her commitments with university.
She will return for the National Omnium Championships in Melbourne in December before tackling the road and track nationals early next year.
Rice concedes she is down in the pecking order for a spot in the track team for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
"I think there's a lot of tough competition on the track with the women at the moment," Rice said.
"There's a lot of girls with that ambition of going to the Olympics.
"I don't know if it's necessarily mine at this point, but I'm happy to keep ticking away little goals and see where that gets me."
Canberra rider Rebecca Wiasak also had a successful championships, winning silver in both the omnium and the individual pursuit.
