Brown has taken his opportunity with both hands to become the starting 'keeper for Canberra FC ahead of Wednesday night's crucial encounter with Belconnen United at McKellar Park.

The 18-year-old is in great form having kept a clean sheet in Sunday's 3-0 win against the FFA Centre of Excellence.

Brown started the season at Woden-Weston FC before moving over to Canberra FC after an injury to their first-choice goalkeeper Jacob Cole.

It didn't take long before Brown grabbed his chance to become a pivotal part of Canberra FC's premiership aspirations.

"In hindsight, it's a good decision. I'm getting game time, which is what I wanted," Brown said.

"No hard feelings to Woden, but I do enjoy it here and it's an environment where I can thrive more than I'm used to.

"As a goalkeeper, you've got to bide your time, play well when you get in and hopefully keep performing.

"There's certainly a lot of expectations and a lot of opinions flying around about how we should play, but I just try to keep our heads down and work hard and the results will come if we do that.

"I owe a lot to Capital Football, they've taken me since I was 12, then through the teams like ACTAS and NTC and it's helped me coming here to know how hard you have to work."

Canberra FC coach Zoran Glavinic said Brown had become a valuable addition to the squad.

"Jacob Cole got injured, he was going to be out for four to five weeks, Sam wasn't getting a start at Woden, we gave him an opportunity and he's grabbed it," Glavinic said.

"He's been overseas with us in Croatia and he's keeping in first grade and has done a great job for us."

Both Canberra FC and Belconnen United need to win to keep the pressure on Tigers FC for the league championship.

Belconnen United are second on the table on 30 points – three behind Tigers FC – while Canberra FC are on 29 points.

Canberra FC have three games to play this season, Belconnen and Tigers FC have two each.
