The Canberra Giants have split their opening series of the revamped Australian Netball League with the NSW Waratahs.
The Giants bounced back to knock over the Waratahs 46-45 in a nail-biting finish on Sunday, a day after dropping their season opener 58-50.
Canberra struggled to put four solid quarters together in their season opener before creeping over the line at the Genea Netball Centre in the return bout.
An opening weekend victory is a giant shift in fortune for Canberra, who were forced to wait until the final round last season for their lone win - then playing under the "Darters" banner.
The Canberra Giants are now a joint Netball ACT-Netball NSW venture with Georgia Clayden, Leigh Kalsbeek and Shannon O'Connor the only three from the ACT in the squad.
