The Queanbeyan Kangaroos piled 58 points on the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs but face an anxious wait to learn their fate on the injury front.
The Roos finished without player-coach Aaron Gorrell, front-rower Jarred Pearce, and young gun Lazarus Vaalepu in the 58-8 demolition at Goulburn Workers Arena on Sunday.
Fears the premiership contenders could be left without Pearce for the season have risen after he left the ground with a suspected anterior cruciate ligament tear.
Gorrell left the field with back spasms after copping an accidental knee and has his fingers crossed for his two teammates, with Vaalepu also suffering a knee injury.
"If you ever want someone to be wrong, I hope our physio was wrong," Gorrell said.
"I think [Pearce has] been the best front-rower in the comp for the last year-and-a-half. Last year he was enormous for us and he started the year that way as well."
Gorrell says it speaks volumes about the playing group that they were able to keep turning up for each other in defence.
Some of Queanbeyan's middle forwards were forced to play nearly the whole 80 minutes as a first-half blitz allowed the Roos to reach 108 points from their past two games.
"We had to dig in and to their credit at time we looked tired but they kept turning up for each other," Gorrell said.
"When the middle blokes are playing 70 minutes straight and they normally would have had a spell in there, it shows they're there for each other and we're doing enough at training.
"When everything is against us they can come through the other side of it."
The Roos were running with the clock in the early stages of the second half as they broke the 40-point barrier and Gorrell says they "probably should have put a few more on them".
But as the margin blew out the Roos went away from what had been working, leading Gorrell to laugh it's almost as if they "get bored of scoring".
"It's always pleasing to win by that but we're not comfortable," Gorrell said.
"We're not anywhere near where we want to be and we all know we have to improve if we want to be there on the last day in September."
Queanbeyan's Auckland recruit Nukurua Ngere bagged a double while halfback Joshua Essex crossed twice in a matter of moments to take a 36-4 advantage into the break.
Just two minutes into the second half the Roos added to their lead through Ngere before Matt Worboys got one back for the hosts.
Things quietened down after Queanbeyan's next try but that didn't mean the Roos were finished - Brent Crisp converted Gideon Afemui's four-pointer to pass the half-century mark with nine minutes remaining.
A last-minute try to Troy Whiley rubbed salt into the wound, with Crisp splitting the uprights to put the final touch on the 50-point demolition.
