Both can agree they're playing at a family-friendly time-slot on Saturday, so scheduling won't be an excuse if fans don't show up.

So who will it be this weekend Canberra sporting fans? Anthony Milford or Shane Mumford? The Raiders or Giants? Rugby league or AFL?

Canberra sports crowds are dropping and the primary reason for that is high ticket prices, according to a reader poll on The Canberra Times website this week. Some 45 per cent of more than 1300 respondents said tickets were too expensive. while 21 per cent say it's better watching on the TV at home.

So what would it take to win you over? How do clubs get you off the couch and to the match?

Both clubs were gioven the chance to plead their case to fans ahead of this Saturday's clash of codes in Canberra, with the Raiders taking on the Newcastle Knights at Canberra Stadium at 3pm and the Giants playing the Western Bulldogs at Manuka from 4.40pm.

We challenged the Raiders and Giants to give fans good reason to turn up on Saturday. They each provided 10.

1. The 3pm timeslot is the ideal time for a family outing, leaving plenty of time to make it home for dinner or other Saturday night plans.

2. The Raiders have made an effort to change entry prices and general admission tickets are more affordable than ever. It's as little as $20 for a pre-purchased adult ticket and $60 for a family. Membership is still the cheapest option per game, with 11 home matches remaining.

3. Value-for-money. There's three matches of footy, with the Raiders NYC Under 20s at 10.40am and NSW Cup match between Mounties and the Knights at 12.40pm

4. It's local league recognition day. involving activities with the Canberra Region Rugby League, junior competitions and ACT Touch Football. There will be a junior clubs relay at half-time, with $1000 prize money.

5. There's free public transport to the game, ACTION buses providing free transport from all of the major interchanges around the ACT.

6. There's more than just the games, with entertainment in the forecourt and a new Kidzone, including the 14m inflatable Viking Ship jumping castle.

7. Spot prizes up for grabs, including the chance at the gate you have your seats upgraded for the game, but also go in the draw to win trips to the State of Origin and NRL Grand Final.

8. The young talent on show is some of the most exciting in the NRL, with Jack Wighton, Shannon Boyd and the freakish Anthony Milford providing on-field highlights.

9. The Raiders have won two out of their first five matches, but every game so far this season has gone down to the final minutes. Even the Raiders three losses this year have only been by six points, 12 points and six points, providing edge of your seat entertainment.

5. Be there to see All-Australian full forward Jeremy Cameron notch up his 100th goal for the club. He is just two shy of the milestone.

6. Bring along a footy and enjoy kick-to-kick with the family on the oval after the match.

7. Watch last year's No.2 Draft pick Josh Kelly in action and see why he was nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star Award last weekend, kicking two match-winning goals and having 17 disposals.
