The Canberra Heat's quest to go one better than last year's Australian Volleyball League grand final began with a second road win over Melbourne's Uni Blues on Sunday.
The Heat backed up its season-opening win on Saturday with another straight sets victory 25-13, 26-24, 25-12.
Heat coach Les Young is confident his side, beaten by Queensland in last year's decider, will again be contenders.
"It's definitely the goal, but there's a lot of steps along the way," Young said. "We did expect to do that [win], but what we weren't expecting was how comfortably it all came together.
"It was quite a good sign and it's a solid foundation. We won't get ahead of ourselves because there's some tough games ahead."
The Heat women lost both their matches to the Blues in straight sets. Canberra has the bye this weekend before hosting University of Technology Sydney-Sydney University on October 25-26.
