Hill will bring down the curtain in his second year on the Toyota 86 racing series circuit in Newcastle this weekend and edge closer towards his ultimate goal.

He is eyeing the Supercars championship and has no shortage of options when it comes to finding a new launching pad with the Porsche Carrera Cup, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, Dunlop Super2 Series or the Kumho V8 Touring Car Series all on the radar.

The 20-year-old was cruelly denied the chance to win the Toyota 86 series this year due to a Mount Panorama mishap in October and wants to finish on a high this week.

"We've had a bit of an up and down year so for me, I just really want to finish the year on a high and turn my eyes to next year," Hill said.

"It's starting to come together definitely. Hopefully we'll have a really good idea in the next week or so. It's starting to come together which is really good.

"After Bathurst I really turned my attention to do something big in 2018 and things are starting to fall into place which is really good."

No matter what the next step is, Hill will most likely stay put in Canberra and continue to operate within his family-based team.

"At the moment it's a really good format that we've got going," Hill said.

"My dad, he has the expertise and knowledge to prepare the cars so it makes it a lot more achievable for us to get the budget together to race in anything.

"It's really cool that we get to build it as a family. I've got a lot of family friends that come to the races and support me so it's a really good environment to go racing in I guess."

Hill's hopes of claiming the Toyota 86 series title were dashed when he was disqualified despite winning the opening race on the highly renowned Bathurst track.

Hill was rubbed out because a crew member touched the car while it was under post-race parc ferme conditions, ultimately knocking him out of championship contention.

But he's sitting fourth in the overall standings and Hill now has his eye on a second-placed overall finish to cap off a whirlwind year with Jimmy Vernon all but securing the title.

"If we can grab second in the series, obviously that will be ideal,' Hill said.

"What will be will be, we can only control what we can. There's a lot of variables out there so if we can just go out there and do the best we can, hopefully we can grab second.

"We'll just keep our heads down and hopefully we can get back on the podium."

Hill was the fastest by half a second in the practice round on Friday as he quickly came to grips with the new track.
