The 19-year-old is the only draftee from last year to be picked in the Giants' 29-man squad to take on the Gold Coast Suns at at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday.
The Belconnen product has been rewarded for a stellar pre-season and didn't look out of place in last week's intra-club match.
The Giants secured Steele with the 23rd pick in last year's draft after North Melbourne bid the 15th selection for the GWS Academy player.
The Giants have named a strong line-up for their opening pre-season match.
Star recruits Ryan Griffen and Joel Patfull will both debut for the club, while Jeremy Cameron, Dylan Shiel, Will Hoskin-Elliott and Stephen Coniglio have also been included.
The 29-man squad will be cut to 26 with the final team and substitutes to be named prior to the game on Saturday.
There will be six players on the bench and two starting substitutes, with unlimited interchanges during the match.
In their remaining pre-season games, the Giants take on Essendon on March 13 at Spotless Stadium and the Sydney Swans at Manuka Oval on March 22.
