CBR Brave hammers Newcastle North Stars to move up Australian Ice Hockey League ladder

The CBR Brave won its fourth straight game in the Australian Ice Hockey League with a 5-2 victory over Newcastle North Stars on Saturday night.

The win improved the Brave's record to 5-2 (including one overtime victory) to mark a stunning start to its inaugural season in the competition.

The Brave rode the momentum from last weekend's back-to-back victories over Perth Thunder to make a blistering start, firing home three goals in the opening period and then withstood a fightback from the North Stars to silence the Newcastle fans.

The second period was a stalemate as neither side could find the net and then the North Stars showed their desperation with two quick goals in the third period to bring the deficit back to 3-2.

However, the Brave scored two more to put the result beyond doubt.

The Brave is back in action next Saturday night when it hosts the top-of-the-table Melbourne Ice at the Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre.
