Canadian import Mathieu Ouellette had the Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre rocking as he delivered the killer blow to give the Brave their third straight win of the Australian Ice Hockey League.

The Brave's Finnish goalkeeper Petri Pitkanen saved a penalty from the Thunder before Ouellette capitalised to send the crowd into raptures.

"The entire room is amped up and everyone is full of energy right now, it's a good feeling,'' Ouellette said.

"I was just glad [Pitkanen] made that save so it took all the pressure off my shoulders. Even if I missed we would have got another shot.

"[Pitkanen] had an unreal game, he was the only reason we were in this game in the third period.''

The Thunder were on track for their first win of the season, before Stephen Blunden and Ouellette scored to bring the Brave back on level terms at 4-all at the end of regulation.

The Brave now have a 4-2 win-loss record for the season after taking both of their games against the Thunder this weekend.

It's a great result given the Brave's short preparation and gives them lots of confidence going into Saturday's road trip to Newcastle.

"We're for real this year and we're keen to keep the winning habits through the season and all the way to the playoffs,'' Ouellette said.

The Brave finished the game without captain and Australian representative Mark Rummukainen, who was ejected for misconduct against a Thunder player in the physical encounter.
