The Aces won just one game in their short three-year existence and hoped it was all they needed to book a place in the Cricket NSW Regional Bash semi-finals.

The Aces breezed through round one and sat on top of the standings in the Sydney Thunder conference's Orange pool, but missed out after a downpour in Orange washed out their final two pool matches on Sunday.

Instead, the Orana Outlaws advance on account of being last year's champions. Rules state if 50 per cent of matches are not played, then the highest finishing side of the previous season moves through to the conference final.

The first-placed Aces were scheduled to face the Outlaws and Central West Wranglers on the Sydney Thunder conference's final day of pool games.

But the washout means third-placed Orana will play at the Sydney Cricket Ground, against an opponent to be determined following the final round of the Sydney Sixers conference next weekend.

Another ACT side managed to get on the park but the result wasn't anything to write home about, falling to Northern District by 28 runs in the Sydney Twenty20 Cup at Mark Taylor Oval in Sydney.

The ACT/NSW Country Comets are gearing up for Monday's Futures League fixture in South Australia, with firing youngster Jason Sangha set to make his Comets debut.

Sangha torched the tourists in an Ashes tour match, becoming the second youngest player to score a first class century against England behind Sachin Tendulkar.
