After playing a leading role in the Meteors' pace attack in the past few seasons, Farrell's role is to deny their shot at the Women's National Cricket League final to give the NSW Breakers a chance at a record 11th straight title.

Meteors captain Kris Britt has boldly declared her side won't be intimidated by the Breakers in Saturday's crucial 50-over encounter at Manuka Oval.

It's a massive game for the Meteors, who must beat the top-of-the-table Breakers and hope other results go their way to reach the decider.

But Farrell will be hoping that doesn't happen after rejoining the Breakers this season following a successful stint with the Meteors over the past few years.

"It's all good, we've always showed respect for each other," Farrell said. "There might be a few cheeky sledges, but nothing serious. You always want to perform well against your old team, so hopefully I pick up a few wickets and I'm sure it will be a good contest."

Farrell joined the Meteors after taking time away from the game. She has regained her spot with the Australian Southern Stars before making the decision to return to the Breakers.

"It was just the travelling, still living in Sydney and travelling down to Canberra all the time," Farrell said. "I think it's great for the Meteors that the majority of the squad lives in the ACT, which is good for the group. When you're a team, you need the base of your group training together on a regular basis."

For the Meteors, this is their one and only game on home turf this season.

They have plenty of confidence after back-to-back wins against Western Australia and South Australia in their most recent round in Melbourne.

Britt believes her improving team has the self-belief to spring the upset over the Breakers. "They're the defending premiers and I think they have won it for about 10 years straight, so it's time for them to be knocked off," Britt said.

"The group we have is absolutely fantastic. We had two fighting wins in Melbourne and to beat a team like SA, which was undefeated is a credit to our group. We're not full of superstars, but we're a really close-knit group of girls and we never give up."

The Meteors will be without New Zealand internationals Sara McGlashan and Lea Tahuhu.

It's a double-header at Manuka Oval this weekend, with the Breakers taking on Victoria on Sunday.
