Bone and Kookaburras goalkeeper Andrew Charter were back at the National Hockey Centre on Tuesday to conduct a coaching clinic for the next generation of Canberra hockey stars.

The pair, who are based in Perth with the national program, will be key additions to the Canberra men's and women's teams for the AHL tournament, which will be held between October 4 to October 11.

Bone says she should be able to take her place in the side despite injuring her ankle during the World Cup.

"I kind of rolled it, went over on it funny and they strapped it quite tight, and there was a lot of swelling, but I managed to play on through the rest of the World Cup," Bone said.

"If it was getting bad they wouldn't have played me [at the World Cup and Commonwealth Games], but we were just managing it through those competitions.

"We've had eight weeks back so I should be right for the AHL, but we're just taking it very steady and will see how it reacts to training."

After dominating the group stage at the Commonwealth Games, the Hockeyroos equalised with just 15 seconds left on the clock in the final against England to make the score 1-1 at full-time, before winning 3-1 on penalties.

The Kookaburras had a more comfortable match, beating India 4-0 in the decider to secure a fifth-consecutive gold medal at the Games.

It was a satisfying feeling for Charter as he narrowly missed out on the Kookaburras' team for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The win has increased his desire to retain his spot in the side for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

"I had a little bit of a tough experience at London, but I'm now in driver's seat and hopefully I can continue my improvement and get a call-up for Rio," Charter said.

"The Olympic Games is the premier event for our sport.

"Unlike tennis where they have the US Open, the Olympic Games is everything we strive to get to.

"We've still got a couple events in the next 12 months, but definitely Rio's the focus now."
