Three family members, two Canberra golf courses and four victories in one day. Young 14-year-old Brett Levier could proudly claim family bragging rights last weekend when he took out the A-grade club championship and junior championship at Capital Golf Club. But extraordinarily, his dad, Paul, and stepbrother, Troy, also shared the spoils on the same day. Brett had the better of his old man in the A-grade championship, but Paul still managed to take out the Veterans. Meanwhile, across town at Belconnen Golf Club, Troy, 35, took out his first title in the B-grade, after only taking up the sport 12 months ago. Probably revealing a little too much, Paul said Brett only took up the sticks seriously after quitting AFL following an incident in which he fell at school and a stick badly penetrated his groin, requiring internal surgery. Paul attributed a lot of Brett's success on the golf course to playing against men from an early age. "He only plays with adults and doesn't get a chance to be a kid ... we are very close, we make fun and jokes, and we enjoy each other's company," Paul said. Brett, who is in year 8 at Calwell High School, has big golfing ambitions. "I want to be on the PGA Tour one day by trying to lower my handicap." By Gracia Mbale
