Mulrooney medallist Isaac Taylor joins Canberra Demons in NEAFL return

The Canberra Demons have lured 2015 Mulrooney medallist Isaac Taylor and his Belconnen teammate Jack Baker to the NEAFL club, where newly appointed football general manager Shaun Young wants to set up a "significant high-performance program".

Both Taylor and Baker played for the Magpies in the NEAFL before the club opted out of the second-tier competition.

Tasmania under-18 representative Mitch Rainbird will also join them at the Demons.

The Demons have also overhauled their football department, with Young coming in to head up the program.

Like Rainbird, Young also joins the club from Tasmania, having spent the past six years as AFL Tasmania general manager.

"It's a really good opportunity to build a significant high-performance program for the greater Canberra region for the most talented players to aspire to participate in with endeavours of making it into the national system," he said on Friday.

It's a newly created position that will oversee both the Canberra and Eastlake Demons football programs.
