The Vikings will be looking to turn the tables on Brisbane City when they meet at Ballymore in the NRC grand final on Saturday.
Brisbane City booked its place in the decider courtesy of a 47-32 victory against the Sydney Stars in Brisbane on Saturday night.
Twenty-four hours earlier, the Vikings defeated the Melbourne Rising 50-34 at Viking Park in the first semi-final on Friday night.
The Vikings and Brisbane City have been the two front-runners of the competition and have plenty of Super Rugby contracted players from the ACT Brumbies and Queensland Reds in their ranks.
It's that finals experience from the Brumbies over the past three years that Vikings coach Brad Harris believes will be crucial in the grand final. "The week will go by pretty quickly as will the game when we get to it," Harris said.
"We're pretty lucky that we've got some pretty experienced guys in our group, the likes of Christian Lealiifano and Ben Alexander, but also Jarrad Butler is leading the team fantastically well.
"We will keep things pretty grounded and stick to a standard preparation for our week and hopefully stay composed throughout the game and hopefully come away with a win."
To do that, the Vikings will need to start better than the last time they faced Brisbane City.
The visitors raced away to a 24-5 lead at half-time before holding off a fast-finishing Vikings team 37-31, which clinched top spot on the table.
Brisbane City is unbeaten in the NRC but didn't have things all their own way against a committed Sydney Stars outfit.
"They are the form team of the competition," Harris said. "They were a little bit patchy last night, but certainly they will be a lot better next week. There's probably not a lot we can take a lot out of it, it's more about executing the way we want to and apply some pressure."
Former Wallabies flanker Liam Gill was outstanding in the semi-final with two tries against the Stars.
"He's a world-class player, there's no doubt about that," Harris said.
"He got some crucial turnovers in the second half last night which led to them gaining a lot of momentum.
"It's pretty similar to what we faced against the Rising on Friday night, so our workrate at our attacking breakdown will have to be spot on."
The Vikings will be without Brumbies winger Lausii Taliauli (shoulder) while hooker Albert Anae will undergo scans on a knee injury.
