Beating the Hurricanes - an imposing team which has lost just two games all year - at Wellington on Saturday night in front of a full house of 34,000 fans won't be an easy task.

That's an understatement of massive proportions, especially when you throw in a couple of additional hurdles.

The first is overcoming the long-haul flight back from South Africa after last weekend's magnificent 39-19 win against the Stormers in Cape Town.

Part of the challenge of Super Rugby is the travel involved.

The Brumbies arrived back in Canberra on Monday night, had one decent training session and flew across the Tasman on Thursday.

It's certainly not ideal, but it's the price you pay when you finish sixth on the table.

What the Brumbies shouldn't have had to endure was the waiting involved in the farcical judiciary hearing involving winger Henry Speight.

The general consensus was Speight was going to miss at least a game, maybe two.

But four? That seemed ridiculous given the player he tackled walked away unscathed from the incident.

The Brumbies decided to appeal the suspension, but that is to try and get the ban reduced so Speight doesn't miss any games for the Wallabies.

It took nearly 24 hours for a result to be given.

The hearing was held by video conference starting at 4pm on Tuesday, Australian time, with the judicial officer based in Cape Town.

The hearing ended at 6.30pm, but it wasn't until another three hours later - at 9.30pm - that the guilty verdict was released.

Even then, it took another day before the five-week suspension was handed down after Speight's playing schedule was taken into account.

Speight was given four weeks for the tackle being a low-grade lifting tackle and another two weeks were added as a "deterrent" for similar offences.

Two weeks were then removed because of his perfect disciplinary record, but because he had a bye week with no club rugby, another week was thrown on for good measure.

Super Rugby's judicial system is a complicated mess compared to those employed with rival codes such as the NRL or AFL.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham understandably played his cards close to his chest all week.

He outlined Robbie Coleman, James Dargaville and Nigel Ah Wong as Speight's possible replacements, but sprung a surprise when naming Lausii Taliaulii.

The 22-year-old has the size to stand up to All Blacks star Julian Savea, but it's a huge step up from playing for Royals in Canberra club rugby.

It's the third straight year the Brumbies have made the finals after an eight-year absence.

They lost the grand final to the Chiefs in 2013 under Jake White before the coaching combination of Larkham and Laurie Fisher took them to a semi-final against eventual champions, the Waratahs, at the SFS last year.

Either the Waratahs or the Highlanders would await the Brumbies in the final if they can get past the 'Canes.

A Brumbies/Waratahs final at ANZ Stadium is a promoter's dream and could attract a record crowd of 70,000.

But first, the Brumbies must continue their giant-killing run and leave the Wellington crowd stunned.

Here's hoping they can.

The potential of Nick Kyrgios is unquestioned, but his decision to split with coach Todd Larkham in the lead-up to Wimbledon has raised eyebrows.

Kyrgios has quickly emerged as one of the true entertainers on his way to charging into the top 30 in the world.

He's more than happy to play up to the crowd, hit outrageous tweeners and at only 20 years of age, has the world at his feet.

Larkham had worked closely with Kyrgios since his junior days in Canberra and had been a steadying influence as he rose up the ranks.

It's very unusual to split with a coach less than a week before arguably the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world.

Kyrgios also made some interesting comments in an interview with an English journalist this week.

"I don't really like the sport of tennis that much," Kyrgios said.

"I was all for basketball and I made the decision to play tennis. I got pushed by my parents and to this day I can still say I don't love the sport.

"If it's NBA on one channel and a tennis tournament on the other, I'm watching NBA 100 per cent."

You've got to admire him for being honest, but those comments will make people question his commitment to the sport.

Kyrgios has taken some big scalps in his young career and has already beaten Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

This is his time to shine.
