The gruelling event held at Lake Crackenback is similar to a triathlon but involves off-road elements; road bike is replaced by mountain biking and the run phase is on a bush trail, through water, mud and over rocky terrain.
Slater sustained an ankle injury earlier in the year in a serious car accident, requiring surgery to make her debut at the world championships.
The former Queanbeyan High School student is now the 20 to 24-year-old reigning world champion.
