With the club's 22nd league championship safely in its keeping, Canberra FC progressed to the ACT National Premier League grand final with a 2-1 victory against Cooma Tigers FC in Saturday's qualifying final at McKellar Park.
Tigers will have a second bite at the cherry when they face a red-hot Canberra Olympic side fresh off a 4-2 win over a nine-man Belconnen United in the elimination final.
Goals to James Field and Muad Zwed either side of half-time put Canberra in the box seat before Tigers substitute Hussein Fureje scored in injury time to ensure a thrilling finish.
Canberra FC coach Zoran Glavinic admitted he would have a tough decision how to fit suspended duo Robbie Deeley and Thomas James, the competition's second leading goal-scorer, back into his line-up for the grand final. Winger Josip Jadric was also sidelined with a hamstring injury.
"It was three big outs, but knowing you've got a big squad and you can bring in players like Niko Kresic and Muad Zwed, it shows the depth we have," Glavinic said.
"Our second round [of the season] has been tremendous, only dropping points with two draws. The grand final is the one we've been working hard for from February after we lost it last year late against Belconnen on penalties."
Tigers coach Gaby Wilk was disappointed with his team's performance, but was confident they could still take out the title.
"If we fix all the mistakes. We'll be a lot better and next week hopefully we'll have a full team with players coming back," he said. "We didn't play very well today and we missed a few good chances at goal. We will come back and will win the grand final."
Tigers will face an in-form Olympic outfit in the preliminary final.
Callum Smith gave Olympic the lead in the 12th minute before goal-keeper Angelo Konstantiou converted from the penalty spot for a 2-0 advantage at half-time.
Belconnen were down to 10 players when Conor Nolan was sent off for a second yellow card offence.
Robbie Cattanach scored Olympic's third before Taylor Beaton gave Belconnen a ray of hope.
That disappeared when Zac Maybury followed Nolan into the sheds, Adam Rogic confirming the result with Olympic's fourth goal of the night.
Belconnen goal-keeper Adam Perakovic scored a consolation goal in the final minute of injury time, with both custodians getting on the scoresheet.
