It was an all-out attacking blitz as two of the leading contenders for the Capital League 1 premiership delivered an exhilarating 12-goal contest at the National Hockey Centre on Saturday.

United can consider themselves unlucky not to have knocked off last year's beaten grand finalist having missed two penalty strokes.

One missed the goal completely, while the other hit the post and bounced away.

Both teams remain unbeaten after two rounds, but MacKinnon knew his side had a golden chance to collect all three points.

"We certainly had many more opportunities in front of the net that we should have capitalised on, but that could have brought us three points rather than one," MacKinnon said.

"Later on down the year I'll be looking for the blokes to put it in the back of the net, but right now I'm not too concerned. They're having the shots and missing, or the goalie is having to make a save."

Aaron Hopkins and Jeremy Hopkins both found the net twice for United, while Iain Davidson and Tom Dean also got on the scoreboard.

Goulburn skipped away to an early 2-0 lead, but did well to hang on after two players spent time in the sin-bin in the second half in seperate incidents.

"We played the last 10 minutes with 10 men, so we did pretty good to keep them at bay," Goulburn coach Steve Downey said.

"We've worked on sticking to our structure which is something we didn't do that well last year, so there's been a lot of positives so far."

Meanwhile, in Saturday's other games, Western Districts defeated Albury 5-2, Central were too strong for Old Canberrans 6-3 and St Patrick's narrowly beat Tuggeranong Vikings 3-2.
