Wests/UC can punch their ticket to the Gallop Cup final in the Cricket ACT first-grade 50-over format against Queanbeyan in Sunday's semi-final at Jamison Oval.
Wests/UC enjoyed a dominant summer in 2013-14, winning both the regional Twenty20 competition and the Douglas Cup.
Captain Ben Oakley's side have roared back to form after a slow start to this season but were eliminated in the semis in the Twenty20 format.
The main focus remains the Douglas Cup, with Wests/UC having won two of their first three games to sit inside the top four.
"Defending the title in the two-day comp was our goal at the start of the season – and to do well in the other competitions," Oakley said.
"We let ourselves down a little bit in the T20, we're keen to do well in the one-day comp to make up for that.
"Sunday's a good opportunity to get through to another final.
Wests/UC continued their strong start to the Douglas Cup, bowling out North Canberra Gungahlin for 89 on Saturday.
They will have to chase the final two titles up for grabs without wicket-keeper/batsman Sam Carters, who is studying overseas for six months.
Second-grade wicketkeeper David Spare has been elevated to the top side in his place and is eager to take his chance with both hands.
"It's a good opportunity for him and hopefully he can do a job," Oakley said. "Sam Carters is a top-three bat and our 'keeper, so it's a bit of a hole to fill.
Weston Creek Molonglo will look to extending their unbeaten streak in Sunday's other semi-final against North Canberra Gungahlin at Stirling.
Queanbeyan put on a impressive batting display on the first day of their two-day game against Creek, finishing at 5-308 at Stirling.
Opener Matt Grocott top-scored with 85 and English import Ed Barnard chipped in with 51.
A century from ANU batsman Andrew Stead (124) gave his side a formidable total of 320 after the first day of the match against Tuggeranong at ANU North.
Fast bowler Luke Ryan was the best of Tuggeranong's bowlers with 5-96.
Eastlake are well in control against Ginninderra, set to resume next week at 1-117 and needing another 51 runs for first-innings points.
Josh Bennett, Vele Dukoski and Michael Spaseski took three wickets each to bowl Ginninderra out for 167, Ross Pawson playing a lone hand with 73.
