So she's using the final four games of the WNBL season to force her way onto it.

Wehrung is determined to put her name up in lights against the Adelaide Lightning at the National Convention Centre on Sunday before she is gifted a huge chance to shine next week.

Brondello will be in Canberra for the Capitals' clash with the Townsville Fire on Thursday night with Wehrung itching to book a ticket to the Gold Coast.

"I'd love to [play at the Commonwealth Games], I don't know what my chances are but I'll just keep working hard and try and get there, try and get to a camp and go from there," Wehrung said.

"You don't think too much about that when you're playing obviously, because that can build more pressure. It'll be good for her to be around and to see our team."

Wehrung thought she was so far off the Commonwealth Games radar she almost deleted the email inviting her to a 'dare to dream' information session at the AIS Arena in September.

She has since watched two teammates get training camp call-ups in 18-year-old sensation Eziyoda Magbegor and 34-year-old Capitals captain Nat Hurst.

Now Wehrung is looking to capitalise on Canberra's stunning return to form and prove she too belongs in green and gold.

The Capitals were anchored to the bottom of the table in the midst of a 13-game losing streak but they've jumped into seventh following back-to-back wins.

A ruptured anterior cruciate ligament to star guard Natalie Novosel has Adelaide's finals ambitions on wobbly legs and now the Capitals are looking to send them to the canvas.

"It's nice that we've had two wins from the past two games. It's a bit more positive and we'll look to get a few more and upset a few teams," Wehrung said.

"It was more relief to be honest, because we've been working so hard and just haven't had the results. It was really nice to get a couple of wins and see the hard work pay off in a way.

"We've been a bit more consistent over the four quarters and that was a big issue in the games that we were losing.

"We're not really playing for finals now, it's just more about winning, trying to do well and upset the finals contenders if we can."

Wehrung will head to Melbourne to spearhead Diamond Valley's debut SEABL season once her Capitals commitments come to a close.

The 21-year-old will bounce "back and forth" between Melbourne and home in country Victoria, with the move opening the door for Wehrung to spend more time with family.

"We're in the country outside of Ballarat, it's called Korweinguboora, you probably haven't heard of it," Wehrung laughed.

"It's near Daylesford. That's where my mum and brothers are. My grandma, aunties and uncles are up towards Horsham."

If Wehrung has her way, they'll need to be on the Gold Coast in April.
