A top eight finish in the teams event at the world championships in Glasgow, Scotland, from October 23 to November 1 will do exactly that.

The Australian team is at the AIS putting the finishing touches on its preparation before it flies out on Thursday.

Australia finished seventh in the teams event at last year's world championships, knowing if they can replicate that performance they will avoid the second Olympics qualifying tournament in April next year.

Rose-Brown was the highest-placed Australian in the overall competition at last year's world championships, finishing 21st.

She came close to making her Olympic debut three years ago, but narrowly missed out on the Australian team.

"I just missed out on the last one, I was first reserve, so it would be amazing if we can qualify," Rose-Brown said.

"Everything is meant to be, it was definitely an experience I wouldn't change.

"I worked really hard and I was pretty much a part of the team. I did everything they did, I just didn't get to perform."

At 173cm, the 20-year-old from the Gold Coast is one of the tallest elite gymnasts in the world in a sport renowned for its petite athletes.

"Bars is one of the most noticeable things," Rose-Brown said.

"I have to have the bars raised 10cm, but I think there are things I can do that perhaps shorter gymnasts can't do.

"I am known for my long lines and my flexibility and dance elements."

Australian team coach Peggy Liddick said Rose-Brown's height worked in her favour and enabled her to perform moves her rivals couldn't.

"There's really short gymnasts and there's really tall gymnasts," Liddick said.

"The thing about Georgia is she's agile, she's co-ordinated, she's strong, she's really well received by the international judging community, so she has too many things going for her for her height to work against her.

"Her height actually sets her apart, especially on the uneven bars, where she has the most beautiful artistic line, and the judges just love it."

Brown is joined in the Australian team by two-time national champion Georgia Godwin, Madelaine Leydin, Larrissa Miller, Mary-Anne Monckton, Kiara Munteanu and Emily Little.

The most notable absentee from the squad is 2010 world champion Lauren Mitchell, who ruptured her ACL in August while preparing for the World University Games.

"The type of surgery she had was done with the intent of getting her back in nine months' time," Liddick said.

"She's running now and you wouldn't know she had the surgery, she just doesn't have her gymnastic skills back.

"There's no guarantees in any sport, but it won't be lack of hard work and determination that will hold her back.

"I hate to predict (if she will be fit for the Olympics), it won't be through lack of trying ... I rank her chances pretty good."
