Graf had taken personal leave from the team for last weekend's two WNBL games to be by her father's side in Melbourne.
In a statement released on Monday morning, Basketball ACT offered its sympathy and support to Graf, who has won six championships with the Capitals and led the Opals to a bronze medal at this year's Olympic Games.
"Basketball ACT, on behalf of the entire local basketball community and the Canberra Capitals, extends the utmost sympathy and supportive wishes to Carrie Graf and her family following the passing away of Carrie's father in the early hours of Saturday morning," the statement read.
"A funeral service will be held in Melbourne this coming Wednesday morning.
"Anyone wishing to send personal messages to Carrie at this time can do so via the Canberra Capitals email address: canberra.capitals@act.basketball.net.au."
