Cosier has been included on the WNBL referee's panel for the 2017-18 season, joining husband Simon, Jack Taylor and Robert Rice as the Canberra contingent.

Cosier helped lift the Capitals to their last title before ending a 15-year career to test herself in netball and women's AFL before settling on refereeing.

She has been identified by Basketball Australia as a future NBL official and could take charge of her first WNBL game when the Capitals start their season against Bendigo on October 6.

The Capitals will continue their pre-season campaign when they play against defending champion Sydney on Saturday as they continue preparations for a drought-breaking finals bid.

The Capitals haven't made the finals since Cosier was part of the club's roster, but coach Paul Goriss hopes new United States recruit Jordan Hooper add power to their bid.

Hooper arrived in Canberra on Monday and completed a double training session on Tuesday to fast-track her Capitals adjustment.

The 25-year-old played for four different teams in the WNBA this season after being moved between teams as part of a trade frenzy.

But after stops in Connecticut, Atlanta and Chicago, Hooper hopes she's found a home in Canberra.

"It was a little bit stressful [in the WNBA] this season, but it has all turned out OK," Hooper said.

"It was the way it was supposed to happen and everything is OK now, so that's good. It did make it hard to settle down, but personally I just took it in my stride.

"I think I can make this transition in Canberra, two weeks is probably the longest I've had to prepare. It's good to just have a team and know that I'm wanted and needed for a little while."

Hooper is the last Capitals player to arrive for pre-season training, giving Goriss a chance to start planning for the first game of the season against Bendigo.

Hooper, a former All-American college forward while studying at Nebraska, will shoulder a versatile workload in her return to the WNBL after previously playing for South East Queensland.

"I'm really excited that our roster is complete, everyone is in Canberra and we're ready to go," Goriss said.

"She did two sessions not long after arriving, straight away that tells me how hard of a worker she is and how much she wants to be here.

"She adds huge versatility and that's one of the reasons we recruited her. She can shoot the three, play off the dribble and post people up.

"We've spoken about helping her getting better ... she brings a whole lot of tools and versatility."
