After refusing to visit Canberra earlier this year at the request of Basketball ACT, the world-famous basketball team has announced they will, in fact, play in the capital in October as part of an Australian tour.
Basketball ACT had originally invited the Globetrotters to play the AIS Arena in June as part of Canberra’s Centenary celebrations. But the team’s management declined, telling the ACT they usually only brought their on-court magic to venues with 8,000 seats or more. The AIS Arena seats less than 5,000.
But, reminiscent of one of their high-flying, double twist backflipping stunts, the AIS has now been included in the US team’s Australian tour.
It's the first time in nine years they've brought their on-court wizardry to Australia.
Canberra fans can expect to dribble over the dunking delights and rock out to the famous theme song Sweet Georgia Brown on October 31.
