MELBOURNE Tigers starters Cam Tragardh and Daniel Dillon have left the club.
The pair were major free-agent signings in the previous two off-seasons and were among the Tigers' best players this past season.
Both players were contracted for next season but requested releases from their contracts after not being able to commit to the Tigers cause.
Their exit, along with the likely departures of imports Myron Allen and Ron Dorsey, leave the Tigers entering the free-agent market needing to sign several impact players to remain competitive.
The Tigers have yet to announce what their plans for Dorsey are while Allen has already joined a team in Mexico.
The club did not say whether other contracted players had requested releases or would be leaving the club.
Tragardh was among the leading scorers in the NBL this past season while Dillon was considered among the best defensive players.
The Tigers put a short release on their website last in the late afternoon announcing the move.
New Tigers director of basketball Chris Anstey said the club was disappointed to lose the duo who had both represented Australia in the past two years.
"It is disappointing to lose two quality players in Daniel and Cameron however the club, where possible, will always try to act in the player’s best interest”, Anstey said in a statement.
“When speaking with our players I have made it clear we want players who want to be here and are absolutely committed to the Melbourne Tigers."
