Bolstered by experienced internationals Edwina Bone and Anna Flanagan, the Strikers have impressed during the tournament in Perth with a quick game-style and frantic goal-sense.

Canberra is the only team to have two players equal top of the goal-scoring chart, with Naomi Evans and Laura Gray both scoring four times.

Evans attributed their scoring rate to their home town.

"We like to think it's because we're both from Goulburn," said Evans.

"There must be something in the water back there. We both like being desperate in front of the goals and we've been lucky to bag a few. It's always good to score a few goals but it helps when the whole team is playing well and we feed off each other. "

Evans said the team's form and results had been "awesome" and they had now put themselves in a position to win the competition.

"We haven't been able to play against Victoria at this tournament yet but we had a trial game against them a month ago back in Canberra and I thought we did really well," Evans said.

"We can go into the game with a bit of confidence because we've been playing some really good hockey, we're in good form, and if we were ever going to take it out it would be this year."

Evans said Bone and Flanagan had been vital inclusions and despite both having played at the highest level, they still played with genuine desperation for the Strikers.

"They're both really good when they come back in to the group because they really step up and take on the leadership," she said.

"They help the girls out with their experience and the girls really enjoy having them to look up to. It's nice to see that when they play for their home state it's like they're playing for Australia. They give it everything."

The semi-final against Victoria promises to be a fast and exciting match.

"They are quick and strong through the midfield, so I assume it will be another fast game tomorrow," Evans said.

ACT and Victoria play at 5pm (AEDT), with big guns Queensland and NSW to meet in the other semi-final at 7pm.

Canberra's men's team, the Lakers, finished third in their pool and will play Malaysia Tigers for a minor placing on Friday.
