ACT Comets crushed by WA as outright loss looms

The ACT Comets are spiralling to their first loss of the Futures League season after a dominant Western Australia cruised closer to outright victory at Manuka Oval on Tuesday.

The Warriors declared at 4-542 in their first innings, with opener William Bosisto (207), Darcy Short (134) and Hilton Cartwright (123) dominating the hosts.

ACT lost 15 wickets in the space of two-and-a-half sessions, with Western Australia needing just five wickets on day three on Wednesday to seal maximum points.

Only Andrew Harriott (39) and Matt Condon (27) offered any resistance in their first innings of 144, while Condon backed up with 43 runs as the Comets were reduced to 5-93 in their second dig.

The result is a setback for the Comets who beat Victoria in a superb win in their previous clash.
