Three more former Black Caps, including Stephen Fleming and Daniel Vettori, were drawn into the scandal on Friday as Chris Cairns returned from speaking to London's Metropolitan Police, the ICC anti-corruption unit and the England and Wales Cricket Board about the claims.

Lehmann is confident Australian cricket is free of the drama and hopes officials can stamp their authority to ensure "cricket is a clean game at all times".

"We've always played the game the right way and hopefully it [match-fixing] never happens in our country," Lehmann said.

"Hopefully they get dealt with strongly from an ICC point of view and get all of their findings right, they've got to clean the game up. You just want a clean game the whole time. Anything that's happening from those players or whatever sport it is ... any sport, you just want to make sure it's a clean game."

Former Canberra resident Cairns denies being corrupt and said Fleming, Vettori and current Black Cap Kyle Mills had been asked by investigators about an approach he allegedly made to New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum in 2008.

Cairns said two of those questioned this year by the ICC's anti-corruption unit had stated that McCullum had told them of an approach but the third could not confirm the details.

He did not say which players had backed McCullum.

Cairns said the allegations made against him were false and he made the journey to London of his own volition to make that point to the authorities.

Lehmann was in Canberra on Friday as a guest speaker at the ACT Brumbies' annual "State of the Union" lunch.

No Australian players or matches, or domestic matches in Australia, are under investigation by the ICC's anti-corruption unit.

"I'm confident with that [that no one in Australia is involved], we've got really good policies in place at Cricket Australia that are reviewed all the time to make sure people are doing the right thing," Lehmann said.

"I'm really confident with Australian cricket and you just want to make sure cricket is a clean game at all times."

Fleming, Vettori and Mills are the latest New Zealanders to be drawn into the ICC investigation after testimony from McCullum and former teammate Lou Vincent in an ICC match-fixing inquiry that was leaked recently to British media.

McCullum and Vincent alleged an unnamed former international, known only as "player X", was involved in fixing matches. Cairns says he is the person alleged to be "player X".

In the leaked testimony, Vincent said player X lured him into getting involved in match-fixing across several countries.

McCullum said he rebuffed two approaches by the same player, who he described as a "hero", to fix games.

Cairns said on Friday that Vincent had betrayed the friendship he offered him in 2008 when Vincent was battling personal issues.

"He is not a whistleblower," Cairns said. "The truth is he has been caught cheating and seeks to mitigate his sins by blaming others." Cairns said allegations by his former wife, Elly Riley, were also false.

He was also critical of the almost three-year delay by McCullum before reporting the alleged approach to the ICC. Cairns said he had not been arrested nor charged with any offence and was disturbed by the path of the investigation.

"I find the situation truly absurd, bizarre and scary.

"Whatever happens, I hope proper process will be followed and I will be cleared of these allegations.

"I have never match-fixed, sought to have others match-fix or otherwise played the game of cricket in anything other than the spirit it so richly deserves to be played in," he said.

The ECB is bringing 14 charges against Vincent, 35, and six against Pakistan A pace bowler Naveed Arif, 32, for match-fixing offences while playing for county side Sussex.
