Cricket Australia confirmed on Thursday tickets for the game allocated thus far have been exhausted, with a limited number of tickets to be made available to the public on Thursday, January 15.

General admission, reserved seating, restricted viewing and standing room tickets will be on offer from midday, with prices starting at $25 for adults, $6 for children and $54 for a family bought at the gate.

While Big Bash chief Mike McKenna recently ruled out expansion for next summer, Canberra is being monitored as a serious option when the competition eventually spreads its wings.

The revamped venue, which holds about 11,500 people, attracted more than 10,000 to Australia's one-day international win over South Africa in November.

"It's a fantastic result the first allocation has been exhausted but there's more coming. It's a great indication of the Canberra region's appetite for cricket," Vergano said.

"The important thing is anything Cricket Australia has sent here in recent times, people have responded positively.

"It certainly doesn't harm any strategic decisions that Cricket Australia may make [with Big Bash expansion], it obviously enhances it.

"It's about building our case over a great period of time it's an area to be reckoned with.

"We've got some very powerful markers there in attendance, in enthusiasm level and in pathway development, which is what you'd want for a potential bid in the future."

Vergano said about 5000 tickets had been sold for Wednesday's Prime Minister's XI-England day-night clash.

Fans will get free admission to Monday's ACT XI-England match if they buy a Prime Minister's XI ticket.

"It [ticket sales] is sound but obviously we're looking toward people getting back into town and supporting the match," Vergano said.

"It's a chance to say thank you to a legend in [Mike] Hussey and see the likes of Jason Behrendorff and Pat Cummins bowl."
