Australia selectors summoned a trio of fast bowlers into a 14-man squad and dropped batsman Rob Quiney for the third cricket Test against South Africa starting on Friday.
The selectors called up Josh Hazelwood, John Hastings and Mitchell Johnson, with James Pattinson ruled out by injury.
Quiney was dropped while vice-captain Shane Watson will return from a calf injury.
Quiney made a pair of ducks in the second Test against the Proteas which finished in a draw in Adelaide on Monday.
While Hastings, Hazelwood and Johnson have been added to the squad, left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc, 12th man in the initial two Tests, is favoured to replace Pattinson, who won't play again this summer after suffering a rib injury in Adelaide.
But Australia captain Michael Clarke said adding three pacemen to squad was designed to cover quick men Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus, in case they didn't recover from heavy workloads in the Adelaide heat.
The series remains deadlocked at following a series-opening draw in Brisbane.
Australia squad: Michael Clarke (capt), Shane Watson (vice-capt), Ed Cowan, David Warner, Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey, Matthew Wade, Peter Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, John Hastings, Josh Hazelwood, Mitchell Johnson.
