Higgs backs keeper to return

January 31, 2012

Prime Minister's XI coach Mark Higgs has backed 'rested' wicketkeeper Brad Haddin to regain his place in the Australian one-day squad.

Haddin and Higgs came through Canberra's cricketing ranks together, both playing for the ACT Comets and they even lived together for four years in Sydney when both were playing for the Blues.

''I think he is still our best keeper-batsman in the country,'' Higgs said.

''His form probably hasn't been as good as he would like it but he would be the first person to say ... I see him having a big summer still in one-day cricket. He will make his way back in there at some stage I'm sure.''

Haddin will partner with Higgs when he comes back to Canberra to captain the Prime Minister's XI for the first time on Friday.
