Having slumped to 3-15 at one stage needing 145 for victory, Meteors off-spinner Sally Moylan clipped a single through point off the final ball of the game to secure the six-wicket win and keep her team's chances of making the finals alive.

Rhiannon Dick anchored the run chase with a superb knock of 71 from just 57 balls in the ACT's total of 4-145.

She was at the other end for the final ball after the Meteors needed eight runs off the last over.

''The nerves were up there considering we needed so many runs off the final over,'' Dick said.

''We were just going to hit and run no matter where it goes, even if it goes straight to the keeper.

''Lucky for me I wasn't facing the last ball, Sally hit it straight to the fielder and we made it through.''

The Meteors were in all sorts of trouble when Sara Hungerford (1), Jenny Taffs (1) and Kris Britt (2) fell in quick succession.

A 114-run partnership between Rene Farrell (40) and Dick steadied the ship.

Moylan chipped in with a handy 11-run cameo from just seven balls at the end to put the Meteors four points clear of South Australia on the Twenty20 table.

''It's set us up really well for the rest of the weekend,'' Dick said.

''We probably weren't at our best, but it shows even if we don't play at 100 per cent we can stick it through and get the result.''

The Meteors face South Australia in a one-day match on Saturday, followed by a Twenty20 game on Sunday.
