  • If Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart etc don't want to support ODI's, Canberra would love to host them in future years. 11500 fans loving a batsmans paradise, perfect weather making a great spectacle rather than 10000 lost in a 40,000 or 90000 seat stadium

    • I don't quite understand it myself, but having lived and breathed cricket for 30 years and worshiped Aussie cricketers I now wish for nothing more than to see the smug arrogance wiped off the faces of pretty mush every member of the Australian team. It's incomprehensible to me that I now honestly barrack for every team against Australia. The last hurdle was the South Africans whom I really hated not so long ago. Now I cant wait for Dale Steyne to smash these smug thingy-magigs ... guess I'll just have to satisfy myself with the half-baked Poms in the short term ....

      • Since when has One Day Cricket required bowlers performing like twisted psychopaths? Fawlkner, you need professional help~! NOT IMPRESSED~! Personally I respect WI players because of their relaxed attitude & enjoyment of the game.

        • Pollard was doing so well at a run a ball, when Maxwell sent down what should have been called a wide and Pollard thought he'd chance his bat and flick it to the boundary behind the wicket, but mistimed his lift. However, that ever-agile Wade took a brilliant catch diving to his extreme right, and what followed defied belief. The commentator, whoever the clown was, said, "Oh! what a clever ball from Maxwell", or words to that effect. Not much to say about Wade's effort but plenty to say about that part-time bowler and part-time batsman's poor effort.

          • SMH live commentary 5.16: "Nope Bailey comes out instead of Maxwell, sigh. Is it wrong to hope we lose another wicket??" echoes the irritating anti-Bailey campaign waged by the clowns on Nine. If Bailey was from NSW, you'd show a bit more respect, perhaps?

            • Not a conspiracy theorist at least with regard to Nine: their cricket boss went on the record with his view that Bailey didn't deserve a place in the team:

"I reckon he's got his hands full as it is.
"He needs to concentrate on staying in the side.
"And he needs to understand where his money's coming from.
"Without the TV rights deal, George is probably working in a coalmine or flipping burgers at McDonald's."

The implication being that the big-money boys in the media should assume the role of national selectors...

          • "5:12pm: So, just 10 overs left, the Aussies are 2-240. What's a reasonable score here? I'm still holding out for my 420 but a repeat of the 333 the PM's XI scored last week might be more realistic...
You'd have to think it's perfectly set up for Glenn Maxwell to come in next wicket..."

"5:16pm: Well I guess we'll find out! Sharp chance taken by Pollard there, sends Pup back to the pavilion for 15 as the third wicket. Nope Bailey comes out instead of Maxwell, sigh. Is it wrong to hope we lose another wicket??"

Unflattering words from the commentator but 6 inches higher and Bailey would have had a 22 ball 50 to go with his match winning hundred last match. Just saying...

Bowlers rely on my smoke breaks.

I haven't had a smoke since Finch's wicket fell. Go figure.

4.33pm Sydney time. Now that Watson has his 100, I'm off for a smoke.

                                I wonder what will happen.

I reckon we could be looking at 270-280 if Watson and Finch can put down a solid foundation. Shame Warner is injured because he would love this wicket and I'd have predicted a 320+ score.

                              • David, you should refrain from making comments hoping the West Indians injuries flare up.

I'm sure the West Indian fans aren't hoping the Australians all break down.

Let's just see a great game. If Australia win due to injuries of the other team what sort of victory is that. I'd be quite happy to see 54 of 24 from Russell completely fit.
