Lyon is one of the worst spin bowlers in Australia, there's 5 better than him and to think he to sing 'under the southern star' . They will have to pick anew player soon.
this shouldn't be a suprise for aussie fans, you only do well in India with at least 2 specialist spinners. England won as they have panesar and swann, amazing cricket australia are focusing on seamers.
If we escape this series with a 0-3 result, we'll be lucky!! England will hammer us in the back to back Ashes series......Time for CA to get rid of the clowns on the NSP (Inverarity & Arthur to start), Pat Howard, the man who is sending Australian Cricket back to the dark ages and anyone involved in their appointment (James Sutherland comes to mind). As a huge fan of Australian Cricket, I have never seen so many incompetents involved in Australian Cricket.

Congratulations Lyon, I mean Dhoni, the poms must be licking their lips at the prospects of handing out some pain to the Aussie bowling attack, Brad Hogg is still around isn't he? Have we ever had a worse attack, maybe in the Kim Hughes days?
Lyon - what a joke!!! 3 for 177. We wouldnt accept a pace bowler taking 3 for 177 at the WACA but we are supposed to accept this rubbish on a turning wicket? Get rid of the clown.
200 hundred cant be far off.... Are you watching with your eyes closed? Not a luxury I can afford.
Sack me? I quit! Most embarrassing.
Think I commented at 3:52 and spoke of our weak attack and second rate spinner, India recently got smashed by England, here we are getting belted around the park, seriously call the ashes off until we bring warnie, Hughes and mcdermottbout of retirement
I like Siddle because he is a good fair dinkum dinky di, true blue rip snorter of a bloke who doesn't carry on like a pork chop. But where's me ripper, you little!
Cowan will be hiding from the coach today, it looks like his dropped catch has this lead going to 80 now and it could go to 120 which is gold on this pitch for India
Lead well past 120 now Phil. Shows how important it is to take your catches
So near....Is there another game going on that we aren't reading about?
Did someone call my name? Pattinson to the rescue! Knock 'em over Patto'
There's a dollar on off stump Nathan, earn your pay and hit it!
Cowan's dropped catch costing us, the lead has gone from 20 to nearly 60

7 bowled's in one innings... so far. What is the record for most bowled in an innings ever?
13 off the over... that's bad luck... I'm feeling a wicket in my waters!
I can feel a wicket in your waters too but not for another 40 runs. Every 40 runs scored off you will yield a wicket. 5 for 200 - won't be seeing you at Lords, thankfully,
Enough's enough then, wrap it up! Oi Liz, get me a pie, Nathan's making me hungry!
Watch me clean up now Warnie, put your mobile away!
It is a boring match and the initial excitement of expecting an exciting series has been spoilt by this first match on a test ground which looks like a dusty a dusty ground .Getting a wicket is like a lucky draw. More spinners should have been included in the team. The grs of the young brigade stands out..Khwaja will find this going to his liking.
Hit me one more time! Go Pattinson!
This is just like watching the grass grow... at Adelaide Oval!
Is that you Mrs Lyon?
In this multi-media digital age - this all feels like getting the coverage via telegram. The BCCI must let us know if they fancy a game of footy and a yarn afterwards about the cricket
Phil Clarke I like your batting lineup. Hughes missed Jadeja was left stranded in that last run but Hughes at mid-wicket fumbles with the ball and both batsmen are safely in. Hughes needs to work harder on his fielding.
Can you give us the score with your updates? Thanks :-)
This series is going to be forgotten very soon I suspect without some kind of free to air coverage.Pricing out the ABC was silly and this weird image block for newspapers is just strange. The ACB should be careful it doesn't go down the rugby union path of paid for everything, that kills a sport in Australia. It might be short term profit for a long term lingering death.

How many series in the last few years will be memorable??? Nil? 1 maybe? Most turned into a farce.Dark days for Cricket with 500yr old people running it with blinkers on.

Most turned into a farce.
Dark days for Cricket with 500yr old people running it with blinkers on.
Anyone else think that this Chennai pitch is an absolute farce?
No. Looks like The scores in each innings so far - around 400 - indicate a pitch good for a competitive test match
If a player does not pass a fitness test he is dropped from the team and rightly so. The same should apply to quality of the bowler, not good enough then be replaced by another quickie or a spinning all rounder such as Maxwell.22 overs, 96 runs, 1 wicket. Just not good enough on a spinners paradise. Try something new Clarke, bring on Warner.

These Indians hate me.
Its no secret that Indians are masters of spin batting. Lyon has 2 wickets and that being key wickets of Sachin and Kohli. Our issue is our top order and in particular Cowan who is averaging 30 after 14 tests. I wouldn't mind seeing this lineup for the second test with Watson opening where he is best suited. Watson, Warner, Hughes, Clarke, Khawaja, Henriques, Wade. Bring Watto to open, our best batsman in Clarke t 4 and Khawaja in at 5. Will make my judgement on Lyon at the end of the game.
The best spinner in Australia is Ahmed for Victoria who took 5 for with his leggies last week. This is fantastic news for The Ashes. Lyon is a B grader. Let's see no more of him in Australian colours. The South Africans demolished him a few times earlier this summer. That should have been the end of him. And whatever happened to Krejza?
Lyon has 1 wicket every 52 runs ,Pattinson has 1 every 22 , its a spinners wicket and the wickets left are batsmen with declining skills . lyons bowls twice as many overs, if Einstein was to sum up "LYONS OUT". as for Hughes ,give me a break an absolute batsman of the lowest order.
Why is this commentator calling the Australian team the "Kangaroos"??? That's the rugby league national team nickname. The cricketers don't actually have an official nickname but some old-timers refer to them as the "Baggy Greens". 3-0
Why do we have nicknames at all ?
Which commentator? I think Claire is doing a good job. If you want disrespect for cricket try watching ABC News 24.
Baggy Green Kangaroo's! - sounds ridiculous.
Lyons taken 22 overs to get 1 wicket you don't win matches with that. Need a leggie who will get wickets or get belted none of this off spinner rubbish
Wanted: SMH Cricket Commentator. Favourable working hours 3.00pm - 4.28pmMust be able to stay awake during Indian batting.
This is like watching paint dry. No wonder Channel 9 didn't really want it and showed their disdain by showing Escape to Victory - a football film made in 1981!!!
Omg in Melbourne: please make more comments like the one you made at 3.52pm!!Please, please.

Finally, Nathan Lyon takes a wicket. Now back to eating pie, humbly.
Nathan Lyon you little beauty!
The Australian attack looks so weak, not having a half decent spinner is going to really hurt, didn't Warnie talk about coming out of retirement, hopefiully this breakthrough will be the start of something
Australia look set for another 90 overs in the field since they don't want to use their only okay bowler Pattinson for long spells. Clarke's lucky escape will not cost India the match. Ashwin will tear you Aussies up in the second innings to seal a 1-0 lead in the series.
Whatever Sandeep, just like your predicted win against the poms. What was that final score 2-1 to the poms?
Did any one else try and listen to the English on testmatch sofa? Was hyped as a replacement for the ABC call. I tried it for ten minutes. All they did was imitate Aussie accents, read out tweets giving their call a rap, laugh hilariously at their own jokes and make fun of Australian place names like Wagga Wagga. It wad all a bit self indulgent and condescending in the best tradition of Douglas Jardine. You would not know there is a game on. In one word ; rubbish.
@w ch - Test Match Sofa is not meant as a replacement for mainstream coverage, - they survive on donations from the public. (Test Match Sofa is a play on Test Match Special from the BBC)If they 'hyped' (through twitter etc) it as a replacement for ABC, it was just a ploy to lure in some extra listeners knowing that foreign media outlets are locked out by BCCI.
I didnt mean they hyped it - I read in the media that as the ABC was not calling it, there would be a call on test match sofa. It is not a call. It is a self indulgent exercise in chauvinism. They may get more donations from the Australian public if they didnt so strongly imply what a mob of uncultured inferior colonials Australians were. That's the vibe they give off.
Fair enough, in that case they were mis-represented.Basically they just love cricket, I don't get the feeling they take themselves at all seriously, I don't think anyone fo them are ex-pros for expert analysis, might be wrong.Did anyone in aus take the time to cover India V Eng just for the love of the game?
