Having lost their first Twenty20 match on Friday by four runs with a ''sluggish'' performance, the Meteors backed up from their one-day win on Saturday with a tweaked batting line-up, setting a target of 127 runs for the home side after a slow start.

Rhiannon Dick, promoted up the order to number five on the back of a 60-run knock from 38 balls in the 50-over game on Saturday, top scored again for the Meteors with 27 runs, with Sara Hungerford adding 24 runs and Kate Owen another 22 runs, batting at number eight.

''Kate was really pleasing,'' coach Andrew Dawson said. ''Her game [on Saturday] was below her normal standards in all honesty, so … we rearranged the order a bit and Kate seemed to thrive having a bit more space in the field.

''To do well in Twenty20 cricket … we need to utilise everyone we've got, because we do have some good batting depth.''

Dick backed up her performance with the bat to return the Meteors' best bowling figures of the day, too. The left-arm orthodox spinner took 1-14 in her four overs, accounting for opener Emma Thompson, who was looking dangerous for the Roar with 19 from 21 balls.

It was the Meteors' spinners who did most of the damage, with off-spinners Samantha Bates and Sally Moylan also notching wickets in their spells as Tasmania fell short, finishing the 20 overs on 6-114.

The Meteors are second on the ladder and have four weeks until their next match against Queensland at Manuka Oval.
