THE ACT Meteors have set themselves up for their must win Twenty20 match on Sunday with a comfortable six-wicket win in their one-day match with Western Australia at Freebody Oval on Saturday.

The game was a dead rubber with finals places in the 50-over competition already determined, but in scorching conditions the Meteors played themselves back into form after their disappointing Twenty20 loss on Friday.
"We spoke to the girls after [Friday's] game and our top four batters sort of let us down and obviously didn't set a good total so that's something we all wanted to change and we did that chasing a small total," captain Kris Britt said.
Britt, batting at No. 4, took matters into her hands, top scoring with 51, with Rhiannon Dick remaining unbeaten on 48 as the Meteors chased down WA's total of 159.
It came after an impressive display in the field, dismissing the visitors in the 45th over, with Alison Parkin taking the important wicket of WA captain and opener Nicole Bolton with her first ball.
''We knew that we wanted to give a few different things a trial and give a few of the rookies a go, and that was really good but the win was even better and now we need to take this momentum into tomorrow,'' Britt said.
Parkin's spell was one of a few changes the Meteors made while resting Kiwi international Sian Ruck, who played three days of club cricket in New Zealand earlier in the week. Rookie Zoe Cooke took Ruck's place, with selectors now facing tough decisions for Sunday's game.
''We've still got a chance, if we win this and Victoria go down against NSW we'll be in the final,'' Britt said. "It's going to be a dilemma; do we change and bring Sian Ruck back in … or do we stick to the 12 that won the game today, it's going to be a bit of a toss-up."
