England can complete a clean sweep of its Canberra double act when it takes on the Prime Minister's XI at Manuka Oval on Wednesday.
The PM's XI should present a more stringent test than England was exposed to on Monday, with the tourists demolishing an ACT XI by 216 runs.
It was the first game under new one-day international captain Eoin Morgan since the shock axing of Alastair Cook last month.
Ali said England had aimed to become more aggressive leading into the Tri-Series with Australia and India, which starts on Friday.
"As a team, it's a chance to show we've taken a step forward and we will have intent and will come hard at Australia more than we have done previously," Ali said.
"I think we showed we were quite ruthless [against the ACT] and it's only good for [the Prime Minister's XI] game."
Ali – who has a strike rate of 109.92 from his 12 one-day internationals – won't be changing his natural game, with the experienced Ian Bell joining him at the top of the order.
"If I've got any doubt, I'll tell myself to go hard and not to get into a shell," Ali said.
"In Sri Lanka, [there were times] first ball I would get bowled or get out playing a slog or something, but I prefer to get out going hard than getting a nick or playing a soft shot."
