Fresh off a morale-boosting clean sweep of Tasmania Roar a fortnight ago, the Meteors will get a true test of their Women's National Cricket League credentials when they face the Breakers in Wagga Wagga starting Friday.
Dawson has named an unchanged squad to the one that easily accounted for the Roar in both Twenty20 games and the 50-over fixture.
However, he was well aware the Meteors will have to lift their game to compete with the Breakers, who include Australian captain Alex Blackwell and dual international Ellyse Perry.
''We want to be aggressive,'' Dawson said. ''If you go down, at least go down swinging.
''You've got to give them a bloody nose and that's our aim - we'll be the ones who throw the first punch.
''We're not going to let the likes of Perry dictate the terms with short-pitched bowling like she has in the past … we can't allow that to happen again.''
The Meteors have regained the services of New Zealand all-rounder Nicola Browne, while Sara Hungerford will look to continue her red-hot form with the bat after smashing her maiden WNCL century against Tasmania, belting 111 from just 76 balls.
''Sara's intent and aggression has been fantastic this season,'' Dawson said.
''We've got to keep that going and not let the NSW bowlers get on top.''
Meanwhile, the ACT Comets have put themselves in a position for an outright victory on the final day of their Futures League match against South Australia on Thursday.
The Comets made 359 in their second innings to set South Australia a winning target of 339.
Dean Solway top-scored with 82, while Vele Dukoski (78) and Jono Dean (67) compiled half-centuries.
