Influential AFL player agent Liam Pickering has joined the board of Big Bash League team Melbourne Renegades. The Renegades were left with a board vacancy after media executive Ben Amarfio's move to Cricket Australia. Pickering, 44, was a Premier Cricket-level player for North Melbourne and one of the last AFL footballers to play cricket at such a high level in summer. Pickering said he and his fellow board members, led by chairman James Brayshaw, were eager to ''secure the services of a world-class No. 3 batsman to shore up our top order'' for the second season for the expanded BBL.
