Sri Lanka has made an impressive start to the second day of the match with the Chairman’s XI at Manuka Oval on Friday.
After claiming two wickets in the first 10 overs of the day, Sri Lanka’s opening batsmen have made it unscathed through to lunch at 0-60.
TM Dilshan (35 from 52 balls) and Dimuth Karunaratne (22 from 62 balls) safely saw off the new ball in response to the Chairman’s XI 6-439 declared.
It is a much improved effort from the visitors after they claimed just four wickets at a cost of 390 runs on the opening day on Thursday.
Only a compulsory declaration after 100 overs could stop NSW opener Scott Henry, who finished unbeaten with a majestic 207.
ACT Comets teenager Dean Solway finished on five not out.
Sri Lanka struck in the opening over of the morning, Dhammika Prasad grabbing the wicket of South Australian Travis Head for 35.
Prasad collected his second of the day and the innings when he had Western Australian wicketkeeper Sam Whiteman caught and bowled for four.
Play resumes at 1.10pm.
