Needing an outright victory to jump from sixth spot into the top four, Tuggeranong's first priority is getting the last remaining Norths wicket before going hell for leather to snatch the 10 points they need.

Norths will resume on 9-118 at Harrison, knowing it can still qualify for the finals if it takes first innings points and ANU (9-202) has a draw or loses to Weston Creek Molonglo.

With rain having cut short the first half of their match last week, Tuggeranong captain Michael Barrington-Smith knows everything has to fall his side's way for it to progress to the finals.

"We'll have to go fairly hard when we get our chance to bat,'' Barrington-Smith said.

"You never know when the next thunderstorm is going to roll in, so we'll have to chase down the runs as soon as possible and try and give ourselves enough time to bowl them out.

"It puts you in a pretty straightforward position, we know we have to get those 10 points to sneak into the finals, but we've just got to get that wicket and chase the runs, then anything can happen."

Despite being an outside chance to make the two-day finals, Tuggeranong has already exceeded expectations with performances in the two other competitions.

It made the final of the one-day competition and the semi-finals of the Twenty20 format.

"I'm really happy we're still being competitive at the back end of the season,'' Barrington-Smith said.

"Having made two finals, I'd say we've over-achieved if anything, but I would love to have another shot with this final coming up.''

In Saturday's other games, Ginninderra will resume at 1-12 in reply to West's UC total of 192, while Eastlake is 4-87 against Queanbeyan.
