The team's first outing will be at Canberra's Tour de Femme, with Lisa Keeling joined by Belinda Chamberlain, Katie McDonnell, Peta Brill and Phoebe Chadwick-Masters on Sunday.

Cycling ACT president and former national road series stage winner Keeling hopes the team will foster the growth of women's cycling in the region.

Keeling said "a bit of a gap was created" in female cycling with one of two local women's teams closing its doors and another more focused larger-scale events

"There's a raft of women that are really interested in doing a lot more local racing sort of within the region and potentially some nationally as well," Keeling said.

"We certainly would just like to be really approachable to other women if they're interested in what racing is on offer – even just getting started [on] how to race.

"We'd love to see people coming up and just starting a dialogue with us. We'll certainly be out chatting to people about racing and what we represent and we'd love to see the team grow and then riding and racing within the region grow as well."

Keeling said the Tour de Femme was a great opportunity to promote cycling amongst women in the nation's capital.

The Tour holds a race and a participation event, with cyclists ranging from ages "six or seven" to adults.

"No matter what level of fitness or cycling, or what type of cycling you like, it's still a really good event to just get out and support and foster that spirit so you can see like-minded women and how many people get out and ride, no matter what sort of riding they do," Keeling said.
