Wiasak won her individual pursuit world championship title this year and narrowly missed out on Rio Olympic Games selection. She has dominated the national road series and wants to add the 277-kilometre Melbourne to Warrnambool title to her list.

"I'm predominantly a track rider so this will be a big test of my endurance and strength," Wiasak said. "My longest road ride was 155 kilometres on an AIS camp in 2013."

Canberra's men's road cycling team, Phoenix Cycling Collective, will join Wiasak as starters for the Warrnambool Cycling Classic.

Team owner and rider Andrew McCosker as well as team captain Nathan Booth are looking to provide strong leadership and support to teammates Hayden Cambell and Will Barker who are riding the iconic race for the first time.
