Reigning golden boot Mark Shields scored a brace and Victor Yanes made an impact off the bench as Olympic came from a goal down to overhaul Canberra City 2-1 at O'Connor Enclosed on Sunday.
Olympic has struggled to find the back of the net in recent weeks, but with Yanes back from work commitments and Shields recovered from an ankle injury, Olympic secured a precious three points against last-placed City.
"Our slump corresponded with Victor leaving and Shieldsy's ankle playing up,'' Olympic coach Leo Exharhos said. "Everything goes through those guys and we really need them.''
Olympic's ninth victory of the campaign takes it to 32 points, just one behind Canberra FC, which has a game in hand.
Woden Valley and Belconnen United are both nipping at Olympic's heels on 31 points. US import Derek Oelmann continued his red-hot goal-scoring touch in Woden's 3-1 win against Tuggeranong United, while the Blue Devils beat Cooma 1-0 on Saturday.
The AIS scored in stoppage time to seal a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Monaro Panthers.
The best under-20 players in the ACT will be out on Monday night when Youth United takes on the Newcastle Jets' National Youth League team at the AIS at 6pm.
