Valeri is one of several changes to Holger Osieck’s squad for Sunday’s international in Copenhagen, which is being used as a warm-up ahead of the Socceroos’ World Cup qualifiers against Oman and Japan.
Valeri’s club Sassuolo finished third in Serie B and will face Sampdoria on Thursday in the first leg playoff involving four teams to determine who advances to Serie A for next season.
The midfielder could be in doubt for the June 8 World Cup qualifier in Oman if Sassuolo qualifies for the promotion playoff final, with the first of two legs to be played on June 7.
Valeri has spent the past seven seasons in second rung of Italian football after joining marquee club Inter Milan in 2004.
He has racked up more than 200 appearances in Serie B and would be elated to live his dream and play in one of the most prestigious leagues in the world.
The Canberra FC junior is expected to be available for the Socceroos’ clash with Asian heavyweights Japan in Brisbane on June 12.
Lanky striker Josh Kennedy has been allowed to complete his club commitments with Japanese outfit Nagoya Grampus, which has a midweek Asian Champions League fixture in Adelaide.
English Premier League player Chris Herd and back-up goalkeeper Adam Federici are also scratched from this weekend’s match with world No 10 Denmark because of injury.
Attacking weapon Brett Holman is in doubt for both this weekend and the match against Oman because of the expected arrival of his second child.
German-based goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak will come in for Federici while Herd will not be replaced.
