After helping the national team secure victory in the recent Oceania Cup invitational tournament, Fulton has returned to spearhead the Canberra Boomerangs in this weekend's round of the F-League at the AIS.

For Fulton, last weekend's success in New Zealand capped a successful first major trip with the national team.

While the Futsalroos were largely untroubled against the Oceania teams, the big challenge lies ahead in the form of the Asian qualifiers for the 2016 World Cup.

''I debuted last year and played three games, but this was my first longer stint away with the team in a more recognised tournament,'' Fulton said.

''The Asian teams are quite quick and your decision-making needs to be fast and on the money.''

While Fulton will be manning the midfield for the Boomerangs, teammate and goalkeeper Angelo Konstantinou will be between the posts after also coming back from international duty.

The pair helped the Futsalroos beat Malaysia 5-1 in the final in Auckland last weekend to secure the trophy.

The Futsalroos used the tournament as preparation for the Association of South-East Asian Nations championships in October, which doubles as the qualifiers for the Asian Championships in April next year.

The ultimate prize is a spot in the 2016 futsal World Cup in Colombia.

Fulton and Konstantinou have been racking up the kilometres travelling between Canberra and Sydney for training sessions with the national team, while also balancing playing duties in outdoor soccer in the Canberra National Premier League with Canberra Olympic.

Then there's also their commitments with the Boomerangs in the national futsal competition.

The Canberra Boomerangs are fourth on the ladder before this weekend's round of games at the AIS Training Hall.

''When we looked at the F-League and what our goals were, it's been about developing and giving the young players match experience,'' he said.

''Saying that, we've got results when it's mattered and we're contenders for the top four if not the top two.

''We really need to take nine points this weekend.''

In Saturday's games, the Boomerangs take on the East Coast Heat at 2pm, followed by the St Albans Strikers at 9pm.
